Artist to Discover: Louisa Wendorff

Music has been and will always be one of the most important parts of my life. I am always searching for “new” talents & new music. I want to start sharing some of my favorite, (fairly new), artists or bands with you.

Today I am starting with one of the most intriguing voices I’ve heard in a really, really long time. Her name’s Louisa Wendorff.

© facebook Louisa Wendorff

I “discovered” Louisa when everyone kept on posting her video of her mash-up of two Taylor Swift songs. I’d put into words how incredible that cover is, but I quite frankly can’t find the right words. She writes her own songs, released an EP in june called Arrow and uploads the most wonderful covers. My favorite is the mash-up she made of Pretty Hurts / Try / Who You Are by Beyoncé, Colbie Caillat & Jessie J.

Buy her EP on iTunes & follow her on her social media accounts to stay up to date with this incredibly talented lady! Have you heard about Louisa before? Who are you listening to right now?

Introducing you to my favorite bloggers

I absolutely love reading other blogs. Some of them inspire me to work harder, take better pictures & write better content. And there are TONS of wonderful blogs. Today I wanted to talk about some of my favorite bloggers. Bloggers who will hopefully inspire you as well!

On High Heels (You’re Closer to the Sky)

As if the blog name wasn’t brilliant enough, Eline’s layout is absolutely stunning. She takes wonderful photos, has great content & her design in general doesn’t look like anything I’ve really seen before. She blogs about everything, from fashion to DIY’s. Absolutely worth your visit (and bookmark) — VISIT

The Healthy Ever After

The Healthy Ever After is hands down my favorite “healthy food” blog. Carmen is an absolute sweetheart, she shares some incredible recipes (I can’t wait to start and try ’em all out very soon) and has an overall very lovely blog. She blogs in Dutch so this is especially recommended to my Belgian/Dutch visitors — VISIT

With All My Affection

Arielle is the owner of this beautiful blog. She posts about 3/4 times a week and her content is always very interesting. I am in love with the design of the blog and how neat everything looks. Arielle is also very kind & responds to pretty much everything. That’s how I discovered her blog, because she left a very nice comment on mine! — VISIT

The Pyreflies

Jessica is the owner of the Pyreflies and besides her being an absolutely lovely human, she also has a very fun lifestyle blog. She writes interesting blogs about pretty much everything. I go back to her blog on a daily basis to find out what she wrote about today — VISIT

What are your favorite blogs? And most importantly, what keeps you coming back to a certain blog?

Music, music & music!

I was going to blog about what to pack for vacation today since I leave for Sevilla on Thursday but I got really sick last night and I’ve been feeling absolutely terrible the entire day. I haven’t really left my couch unless to.. Well yeah. That. Sorry. Way too much information. Anyway. I will still blog about that subject, but it will most likely be for when I get back next week. So today I just wanted to share a blog I kept as a draft for a while!

Music is my favorite thing in the world, well next to traveling. I used to do freelance/voluntarily work  for a music & entertainment website. I wrote tons of reviews and got to interview some incredible musicians. My passion for music only grew when I met more people in the industry and pretty much attended a concert every week. I also got to join some friends on tour and create the best memories.

So I decided to include music a little bit more into my blog & write posts about artists I think you all need to discover, concerts you need to attend in Belgium, etc! I created a music page (go check it out!) where you’ll be able to check out the monthly playlists I make on Spotify, reviews of albums & more!

Let me know what you would love to see on my blog, besides music, as well.

January updates!

(I reorganized my desk today, it feels & looks so much better)

I was listening to Christmas music like, yesterday. So I can’t quite believe it’s February in just a couple days.

I’ve gotten so many kind & lovely messages from all of you over the past couple of weeks and it only inspired me to improve my writing, the topics I blog about & the look & design of my blog. I will start working on a complete new look for Naomi in Wonderland very soon. I am also upgrading on wordpress so I can actually completely change every single detail myself!

In the meantime I also updated & refreshed the following pages

• about
• photos
• travel tips
• contact
• partner blogs

Several blogposts have received a pretty big response, both in views & comments, so that makes it easier for me to know what you want me to blog about and it’s always nice reading kind things. In case you’ve missed any of my personal favorite posts of January, go check ’em out!

Visiting Mickey & Minnie Mouse in their kingdom

We had some Hakuna fries at the Hakuna Matata restaurant. THEY WERE SO DELICIOUS. Pretty spicy, but so yummy. They were €3,59 and there were definitely enough fries to share!

We had lunch at a restaurant called Fuente Del Oro. My sister had the €11,99 lunch menu including a drink. She is a vegetarian so it was quite hard to find a decent meal. But the lunch menu was 100% vegetarian! I had a taco menu with churros & a drink for €12,99. Food is expensive in Disney but this wasn’t too expensive and very delicious mexican food.

Yesterday my little sister and I decided to visit Mickey, Minnie and all their friends in their land in Paris. My sister is currently in college and she just finished up her winter finals. So we decided to have a fun day in our favorite place on earth since we found a great deal online. A ‘one day, two parks’ ticket was €60! We had a blast since there were no real lines whatsoever, all the kids were at school, and the weather was alright (read: no rain).

I know I just did a full Disney post, but I wanted to share some photos from our day at the happiest place on earth. All photos are taken with a Nikon D2300.

Liebster Award Nomination

I’m still very new to the whole blogging community so I didn’t even know about this until the wonderful Dora (thank you lady!) from Bangs Bang nominated me for a Liebster Award!

So Liebster Awards are rewarded to bloggers, from other bloggers, with less than 200 followers. When you’re nominated you nominate 11 other bloggers yourself, so that way you get to know and discover more (new) bloggers.

So these are the so called ‘rules’, they’re very simple! You have to mention the person who nominated you on your blog & link them, you answer 11 questions set by the one who nominated you. You end up nominating 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers, so newer blogs I’m assuming and link them. (I hope I got this right since I don’t know how you can figure out how many followers someone has) Create your own 11 new questions to answer. And of course, let the nominees know they’ve been nominated!

So here are my answers to Dora’s questions!

1. What made you start a blog?
Inspired by one of my best friends, Marlies, who started a travel blog. I’ve started blogs several times before but I wanted to actually make something of this one. I started in February 2014, but I didn’t really update the blog until last December. I like blogging because I love writing. And I love that other people seem to enjoy my writing as well.

2. If you could live in any country, which country would that be?
Either America, preferably California, or Spain.

3. If you could be the main character of a book (imaginary or not), which one would that be?
Oliva Pope. Because she’s just bad-ass. Wait Scandal is just a TV show right? I read tons of books but I can’t really think about a character..

4. You most beloved song that you would play on repeat for ever?
Easiest question for me to answer in the world. Jeff Buckley’s version of Hallelujah (originally by Leonard Cohen). It’s my favorite song in the whole wide world and I will never get bored of listening to is. Fun fact: I have “Minor Fall, Major Lift” tattooed on my right ribcage.

5. The biggest dream you want to realize?
I have tons of dreams.. I guessss the biggest one is that I one day get to open up a 360° management/record label. But I also want to travel the world. And move to Spain. Speak fluent Spanish. Live in the LA area. Adopt wolves. I have dreams so big they scare me. But I like it that way.

6. Top three favorite foods.
Belgian French Fries with mayo, Green Fish Curry from a restaurant in Ostend called St-Malo & sushi.

7. Long or short hair?
Difficult question. I prefer long hair for myself but I LOVE short hair on pretty much anyone else.

8. Are you a family or a career person?
Definitely a career person. Like I mentioned before, I have so many dreams I still want to accomplish. I’m sure that one day I’ll have a little family of my own and I absolutely adore my family members, but for now I want to go for my dreams.

9. Black or white?
Black. (Until they create a colour darker than black)

10. What camera do you use?
Nikon D3200 & iPhone 5c

11. Favorite style/fashion blog?
Too many. I already had a hard time picking out 11 nominees for this award.

And last but definitely not least. My eleven nominations & my questions for them!

10 things you should definitely do when visiting New York City

New York, the city where dreams come true. I wish it wasn’t as cliché as it sounds but it is the truth. If there’s one place in this world that has inspired me more than anything else, it’s NYC. I’m pretty sure I know my way around the Big Apple better than I know my own city. So if you’re going to New York City anytime soon you should consider doing the following 10 things.

My favorite area to shop at in NYC is hands down SoHo. I love how I can find all my favorite stores in one area. From Urban Outfitters to Zara to Brandy Melville. Don’t forget to wander off from the main street because you will find the most unique & adorable stores in the other smaller streets.

If there’s one place I would kill for, well not really but you know what I mean, it would be the Great NY Noodletown. Best Chinese food I’ve ever had. My favorite dishes there are any noodle soup & the salt baked shrimps. Very affordable. The service is fast and they don’t speak perfect English but the food is so great I honestly don’t care about anything else. You can find the Great NY Noodletown on Bowery in Chinatown.

There’s no better way to discover Central Park than to walk. You will find numerous different roads you can’t access if you’re not walking. My advice? Start your adventure at the Columbus Circle entrance. And get lost, allow yourself to get lost. You’ll find your way again but you will discover you new favorite spot that way!

Tons of people go onto the Empire State building to have wonderful views of the NY skyline and although I’m certain the views are epic, I prefer to go on top of the Rockefeller Center near Central Park. Why you may ask? Simple, you can see the Empire State Building from there so your photos turn out to be wonderful and you’re right next to Central Park so you can take the best photos of both uptown & downtown. For tickets click here, I promise you will love this.

I love fast food, a lot. I know I shouldn’t eat it as often as I do but I can’t help myself. One of my favorite fast food chains in this world is Five Guys. You can pretty much build your own burger. You can add whichever toping you want and the burgers are absolutely delicious. Their fries are great too. And they have very decent mayonnaise, I love my Belgian mayo. For around 10/12 dollars you have a delicious fast food meal. There are tons of locations in NYC and pretty much everywhere else in the States. They also have a few locations in the UK. It’s great.

I am not the biggest fan of sweets or cakes but good lord, the cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery are a gift from God. There are a couple locations you can find in NYC. They create special cupcakes for special occasions (like the Giants playing an important game) which is always fun. Definitely a must go to place when visiting New York.

We stumbled upon this restaurant when we were shopping in SoHo, I immediately fell in love with the location, the name & the menu. They call their food “international comfort food” and I quite frankly couldn’t agree more. Delicatessen is a lovely place for brunch, lunch or dinner. You can make reservations during the week, however it’s too busy during the weekends for Brunch so you have to go to the restaurant, write your name down and come back whenever they call you up! Try their sangria, one of their mac n cheese dishes and the fries. SO GOOD. You will thank me later.

Near Penn Station on 34th street, Herald Square you will find one of the most wonderful VS stores I’ve ever been to. (My favorite location is the one in London) It has 3 stories and you will find everything you could ever dream of if you think about Victoria’s Secret. From their perfumes/body lotions to their PINK line and of course the traditional VS lingerie.

Walking over the Brooklyn Bridge and take skyline photos is one of my favorite things to do while in NY. I recently discovered adorable little lemonade stands when you walk of the bridge in Brooklyn towards the water. Grab a fresh lemonade and enjoy the view.

I am not the biggest museum fan. It’s not that I dislike them, I just rarely find museums that completely interest me. I do however absolutely am fascinated by exhibitions or museums about (recent) events or important things of our past. I’m sure that everyone still remembers 9/11 and where you were that day. Whether you live in NY, the USA or not. I still remember what happened, how we reacted to it & how we handled the news back in school when I was 10 years old. The 9/11 museum will leave you speechless. It’s interesting, heartbreaking, fascinating and very, very well done. It’s also interactive, as in, you have the chance to listen to phone calls and more.  They even created an app that you can download for free, while using their free wifi, which allows you to have your own personal guide. So don’t forget to bring your headphones. Tickets are $24 and worth every single penny. It’s one thing you just HAVE to do.

If you’ve ever been to NYC before, what are your go-to places?

(Ps- for more photos of NYC, check out my previous photo post about this great city, I didn’t want to include all of the same photos over & over again)

“I’ll wear a different color when they make something darker than black”

My sister and I decided to go outside for a bit to get some fresh air so we drove around, parked my car and we spend some time outside. In the meantime we took advantage of the cool backgrounds we found and we both took a ton of photos with my new camera.

I love wearing black. I must admit that about 75% of my closet is black. You can never go wrong with that color, yes it is a color, so I prefer to own a lot of it.

I’m obsessed with the coat & shoes I’m wearing. The coat is my sister’s, shoes are all mine. They’re pretty painful to walk in if you’re going to walk miles & miles but are perfectly fine for shorter distances.

What are your favorite winter fashion items? Do you own more color in your closet?

Shoes: Zara
Pants: Zara
Coat: Mango
Top: H&M
Long sleeved shirt: Guess

3 Instagram accounts you just have to follow

Instagram is hands down my favorite social media network. I love looking at pretty photos with fun captions. Today I wanted to talk about my 3 favorite Instagram accounts. Accounts that will put a smile on your face, leave you inspired or even make you shed a tear or two.

1. Humans of New York

My favorite account ever is HONY. Humans of New York is created by Brandon back in 2010. He thought it’d be interesting & cool to photograph New York City’s inhabitants. He eventually also started to interview the people he was photographing, posting incredible quotes & short stories from their lives. That account has inspired me more than once and I’m looking forward to read new photos & stories every single day. It’s so fascinating to see wonderful & beautiful people discussing very personal parts of their lives. If there’s one account you should follow on social media, it is without a doubt Humans of New York.

2. Ferdalump

Ferdalump’s account is a must follow account for everyone who loves Disney. I’m sure you’d appreciate this account even if you don’t like Disney. (but in all seriousness, who doesn’t love Disney) Ferdalump is a collection of photos & short videos of mini human, Lane and her Disney adventures. Lane’s mother creates Disney themed costumes for her little one and it’s the most adorable thing ever. I’m pretty sure she is living the dream.

3. Harlow And Sage

Greatest dog account ever? I would say YES. Sage was Harlow’s best friend, sadly Sage passed away about a year ago and the owners of Harlow & Sage got a new brother for Harlow, called Indiana. Very recently they got another sibling for Harlow & Indiana, called Reese. The Instagram account documents their fabulous & adorable adventures. They always put a smile on my face. The captions and pictures are absolutely amazing and I am convinced you will like this account as well

What are your favorite Instagram accounts? Have you heared about the ones I mentioned before?

Useful (and fun) apps you need to download

It’s 2015 and apps are my favorite part about owning an iPhone. They are just so useful and fun. Today I’d love to share some of my favorite apps with you. I have about 20/30 apps on my phone, but in reality I only use a couple.

I am not going to be talking about photo apps since I wrote an entire separate blog about my favorite photo ones. Go check it out if you want to read about those applications! Instead I’ll be talking about 5 apps I use on a daily basis.

Let me start of with the most useless app I’ll be talking about. “Authentic Weather” is a weather app, but it doesn’t really tell you much about the weather. It’s rather funny, with a little bit of weather information. I just opened up the app and it’s currently letting me know that it’s “Brezzy fucking breezyIt’s getting cold outside!” You can also take a photo with the same quote they used to update you on the weather. Pretty cool. It’s a bit of a bummer that you actually have to pay for this app. Like a dollar or two. Is it worth the dollar or two? Absolutely.

I have no idea how I stayed up to date with the TV series I watch without this app. It’s genius, yet so simple. You search & add the shows you watch and then you mark the episodes you’ve seen. Genius, I know. If you live in a country far away, like me, and you are forced to watch the new Scandal or PLL episode online, this will be your lifesaver. You will never have to watch the same episode twice. I only found this app in the App Store, so there’s no Episoder for Android users, however I found two similar apps called “SeriesGuide” and “Next Episode”.

I’m guessing most of you will be familiar with Shazam but I wanted to include this  in my list in case there are people who haven’t heard about it before. Shazam is an app recognizing music & media playing around you. Do you hear a song you like in the supermarket but you have no idea who the artist is? Have no fear, there’s an app for that now. You can also record the song/music you hear when you don’t have 3G or wifi, it will remember the track and synchronize when you do connect. Shazam is also free and available on both iPhone & Android.

Do you want to e-mail tons of photos to your friend? Do you have a few bug files you need to e-mail asap and you can’t wait for your laptop? WeTransfer is the answer! If you have to e-mail photos you will only be able to send 4/5 photos at a time. WeTransfer allows you to send HUGE files. I like it because it takes forever to iMessage or WhatsApp them. You can also use it online, and I used it a lot while in college, but I recently downloaded the app because it was free and easy to use on my phone!

I travel often and I buy several things online. The XE Currency app is a lifesaver. But I’m serious right now. It allows you to convert currencies anywhere, at any time and a huge bonus is that you don’t need wifi or 3G. When you’re traveling outside your country I’m guessing you won’t use your data all the time because it’s expensive so being able to still use this without data is lovely. It’s not a 100% but it’s pretty decent and allows you to have a really good idea of how much you’ll spend in a different country.

Do you have any of these apps already? What are your favorites?
